Welcome
Dear Prospective Client,
Welcome! My name is Dr. Beth Pearson. I am the director of Resilient PATHS- a clinical psychologist who specializes in development across the lifespan.
Location:
Resilient PATHS was formerly located in Santa Clara, California where assessment, treatment, and health and wellness services were offered for children, adolescents, and families. Please note- I have moved to Michigan but am able to work with parents in California who are interested in parenting guidance/consultation sessions. I am maintaining my California licensure and would be glad to schedule convenient appointments with you via phone or Internet.
My Approach:
I believe that every individual has the capacity to grow & to flourish. Every person's path is unique- depending on one's temperament, culture, upbringing, strengths, and the particular life stressors being faced.
Sometimes, one can go off their natural developmental path due to:
- emotional challenges (such as anxiety/depression/temper tantrums, etc.)
- trauma
- difficulty mastering new roles (such as parenting or transitioning to college)
What does it mean to be resilient?
Resilience refers to a person's tendency to respond effectively to stress by adaptation... to be able to continue functioning well despite adversity.
As a psychologist, I view my primary goal as helping others to learn skills so that they can develop their own resilience and reach their full potential.
In our work together, I will use a strengths-based, collaborative, and effective approach to help you meet goals for yourself, your child, or your family.
Strengths-based: I will listen carefully, then individually tailor the best way of working together based on your (or your child's/family's) own assets and values.
Collaborative: I know that you are a source of knowledge and have important insights about how to move forward. We will work together to determine how to do so. You are the expert about yourself (and your child/family). I will serve as a guide who will offer ideas, encouragement, and help with problem-solving.
Effective: I will draw upon the latest research to provide assessments and treatments that are evidence-based. I will ask you to complete rating forms at the start of our work together and as our time together continues to ensure that we are making progress. I will use objective data combined with your feedback to make sure we are on track and to modify our methods when necessary.
Please continue to browse this website for information about the services offered at Resilient PATHS and to learn about other resources you may find helpful. Feel free to contact me directly with any questions you may have or to get started.
Best Wishes,
Beth Pearson, Ph.D.
